| Antarctica - Off the Beaten Track November 8-November 20, 2011 Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Antarctica November 20-December 8, 2011 Antarctic Peninsula AdventureDecember 8 - December 18, 2011 Daisy Gilardini - Photographer in Residence Daisy Gilardini is based in Lugano, Ticino, the sunshine state of Switzerland. She started taking photography seriously during her first trip to India in 1989 and since then has visited more than 65 countries with camera in hand. She fell in love with Antarctica during her first trip there in 1997 and since then has spent most of her time photographing the Polar Regions.In more than a decade of polar explorations she joined thirteen expeditions to Antarctica and twenty-three to the Arctic, most of them on research vessels and icebreakers, one on a sailing boat, some overland and in 2005 she joined a Russian expedition to the North Pole on skies. Daisy's images have been published internationally in leading magazines and organizations, such as National Geographic, Smithsonian, BBC Wildlife, Nature's Best, Audubon, The Telegraph, Outdoor Photography, Greenpeace, World Wildlife Fund, among many others. Her work received awards at the most prestigious international photo contests such as the "IPA International Photography Award", "BBC Wildlife photographer of the year", "Photography Master Award", "Travel Photography of the Year" and "Nature's Best". In April 2010 Daisy had the great honor to be part of the jury of the "BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year" considered as the "Oscars" of nature photography photo contest. Her passion for the natural world has grown into a lifelong commitment to disseminate conservation messages and inspire others to respect and preserve our fragile planet. For her dedication in environmental issues, in fall 2009, Daisy has been accepted as a member of the Emerging League of iLCP the International League of Conservation Photographers. |

David McEown - Artist/Photographer in Residence After graduating from the Ontario College of Art and Design in 1992, David spent his last 2 years off campus pursuing independent studies at the Algoma School of Landscape Arts based in the remote wilderness of Northern Ontario. After completing these studies he stayed several more years teaching and wilderness guiding. For his body of work done in this Lake Superior region steeped in indigenous culture and Canadian landscape painting history, David was awarded the Elizabeth Greenshield Foundation Grants in 1994 and in 1999. Also in 1999, he was elected a member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour for which he served as a director from 2002 to 2007. David's most prestigious award came in 2005 with the A.J. Casson Medal from the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour. Since then he has earned a reputation as one of Canada's most accomplished and travelled landscape watercolourists represented with paintings in many public and corporate collections worldwide as well as articles published in numerous magazines. From 2005 David has focused his art on the polar regions, a journey that led him to circumnavigate both the Arctic and Antarctica. On board research vessels and polar class icebreakers, hiking and even skiing to the North Pole, he continues to work on a project witnessing and recording the beauty of a world that is rapidly changing and disappearing. Since 2002 David has been leading workshops at the Royal Ontario Museum, and is sought after by prestigious art clubs in Canada. Internationally, as part of various artist-in-residence programs, he has been sharing his enthusiasm and unique way of seeing with participants from all over the world. |

Antarctic Peninsula Adventure January 27 - February 6, 2012 Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and AntarcticaVersion February 6-February 24, 2012 Antarctic Peninsula Adventure February 24 - March 5, 2012 Rob Stimpson - Photographer in ResidenceJoin the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, Canadian Geographic Magazine and One Ocean Expeditions on a specialty departure ( February 24 - March 5, 2012) featuring Rob Stimpson as our in-house photographic expert. Rob Stimpson His 20-year career has also taken him on numerous expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic, sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and Central America, where he has focused on rare sights of the natural world and photojournalistic elements of indigenous people. Along the way, he has garnered numerous awards, including a Northern Lights Award from the Canadian Tourist Commission and Best Travel Photography Award from the Ontario Tourism Summit in 07. Rob is co-author (with Craig Thompson) of An Artist's and Photographer's Guide to Wild Ontario (Boston Mills Press.) His work has also graced Canadian Geographic, Explore, Chatelaine, Cathay Pacific and Japan Air in-flight magazines, Globe & Mail and Toronto Star. Corporate clients include Swift Canoe, Annenberg Foundation, Ontario Tourism and Ontario Parks His work is displayed in the Canadian Canoe Museum and the French River Visitor Centre. He teaches travel and landscape photography at Fleming College in Haliburton Ontario, where his photographic workshops are in high demand. Rob brings both a passion and skill for photography as well as the ability to share his skills as a teacher. Whether on deck, in class, in zodiacs or exploring the land, Rob endeavors to share his enthusiasm and skill with all of us who show an interest in photography. |
