One Ocean Expeditions is the brainchild of Andrew Prossin, a Canadian mariner who has been dreaming of creating a totally unique Antarctic tour experience. Our shipboard guides and crew have the deepest respect for Polar weather and the varying sea and ice conditions in these regions. 

You cannot commit to quality without a very strong commitment to safety. A strong safety record can only come from careful planning. At One Ocean Expeditions, we are committed to being the industry leader in polar expedition safety and preparedness. 

The safety equipment onboard is the most comprehensive in the entire Antarctic tour industry. We also have the highest level of training for our field staff by developing our own in house training and accreditation system for all our guiding functions. By maximizing our use of equipment, training and accreditation, we constantly develop and improve on systems and procedures that keep us at the top of our safety program.

We offer safe, yet adventure-filled, Antarctic expeditions that promise to change perceptions. Our goal is to eclipse all other travel experiences you have ever undertaken at a rate you feel is worth every penny. 

We have gone to great lengths to ensure that our pricing structure reflects the inherent quality and value of our Antarctic expeditions. With this in mind, we normally operate at a high occupancy and very rarely discount our prices. Everyone pays the same price for similar cabins – that is our commitment to, and belief in, the quality of experiences we offer.

Our Commitment to People: A very high staff-to-guest ratio

One Ocean Expeditions is a people-oriented company. In every thing we do, we focus on the people who matter most to us – our guests and our crew. 

We will always orient our decision making towards the well being and comfort of our guests. We have reduced our guest capacity by almost 10% compared to other operators of similar ships in order to achieve higher comfort aboard our vessel. 

We also provide significantly more amenities than on similar vessels. 

We are concerned about our staff. We carry what is likely the highest ratio of staff to guests in the industry and we make certain they are well-rested, well-fed, thoroughly trained and abundantly supplied. This shows in their enthusiasm, knowledge, passion and competence.

Our Commitment to Adventure: Activities in Antarctica

With a focus on wildlife, photography and adventure, One Ocean provides a wide variety of options for exploring the natural wonder of Antarctica. Activities and programs are tailored to our guests wants and needs – some more adventurous than others. Camping is included for anyone interested (including the right equipment to make it safe, comfortable and enjoyable) - Antarctica only. There is optional kayaking (again with a great list of high quality included gear) and we even carry snowshoes, walking sticks (ski poles) and binoculars. 

In Antarctica, activities abound. But how do we get to land from the ship? Our well maintained fleet of eight zodiac inflatable boats paired with low emission 4-stroke marine engines are used to operate our program.  With these flexible bottomed zodiacs we have the ultimate platform for shallow, out of the way areas, and with our 60Hp engines we have the stability and speed to be where we need to be. Whether it is ‘staying a little longer’ for the birders, getting that ‘special angle’ for the photographers, or accessing an out-of-the-way-spot for hikers or snowshoe enthusiasts, our boats provide great flexibility and range. 

Our Commitment to Cuisine: Fabulous food in Antarctica and Arctic

Not only do we utilize our own menu, but we bring our own chef to supervise food preparation and service. 

Many people mistakenly believe that food in Antarctica = expedition-style rations. Nothing could be further from the truth. At One Ocean we use high quality ingredients from around the world, responsibly selected for their taste and sustainability. We always ensure numerous good quality healthy options to choose from on the menu, and we take care to prepare all our dishes in a tasteful and healthy way.
